Family Storytime Yoga

Little Kid Yoga(ages 4 – 9)

This series is all about movement and FUN! Drawing inspiration from our favorite authors and stories, children become part of the story through movement and breath. Using songs, games, storytelling, and traditional kid-friendly yoga poses children are encouraged to embrace a love for movement, and unleash their imaginations.

FAMILIES (caregivers and siblings) welcome. Children under four must be accompanied by an adult.

Each class/series includes the essentials of Yoga - mindfulness, breath awareness, and traditional kid-friendly yoga poses (asanas). Children are encouraged to embrace a love for movement, and unleash their imaginations through songs, games, and storytelling.

The class/series format is founded on the "storytime yoga" model used in such programs as Cosmic Kids Yoga™.  Drawing inspiration from beloved authors, stories, and characters, the kids move through a sequence of Hatha Yoga asasnas while listening to and engaging with the narrative.  The story becomes alive as kids focus and essentially become the characters and the action in the story. The goal of this approach is two-fold: first, to establish healthy body awareness and appreciation for how the physical body works; and second, to instill children with the core values and principles of Yoga. It is through storytelling that these important messages are made accessible to this young audience.

This class/series is designed with the developing mind, body, and soul at its core. I create an environment that is inclusive, non-competitive, and nourishing to your little one’s emotional and physical growth. Yoga can enhance your child’s well-being by…

  • Nurturing self-awareness and self-confidence

  • Building strength, flexibility, coordination, and balance

  • Enhancing stamina, focus, and concentration

  • Learning relaxation and self-calming techniques they can use anywhere

  • Developing positive thinking and cooperation with others

  • Teaching them to listen to their bodies

  • Embracing a love for movement and play

These life-long skills provide the foundation for happy, grounded, strong kids – inside and out!
